Buyer Beware!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Buyer Beware!!! I order the Mossberg Blaze-47 from the online picture at Gander Mountain because the picture showed the gun with a collapsible stock. My 8 year old nephew asked me to take him shooting and this would be the perfect gun for him. When I picked up the gun and took it home it had a fixed stock which would be too long for him. I took it back to GM but they told me there was nothing they could do even though I told them that the gun in the picture did not match the one they sent me. I've bought many guns at GM but because of this experience I consider them untrustworthy.

Gander Mountain Greenwood Indiana Horrible Customer Service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I tried to buy a gun at this location on Black Friday. Due to so many background checks it was delayed. I was told to come back there after three days if i didn't here from them and i would be able to finish buying the gun. I went back a week later and the guy at the counter told me my application was denied. I asked why? He turned around and said he couldn't tell me. I pressed further and he would not speak anymore to me and stood with his back turned. After calling the FBI helpline, requesting a reason why I was denied and waiting another week, I received a letter detailing that I was not denied and it was the stores error. I was never denied, they put my application in the wrong file, and would not take the time to double check. I had spent a couple thousand dollars there in the previous year. NO MORE. I went and bought the same gun at *** Gander Mountain in Greenwood Indiana is only helpful when they think they are getting paid or getting commission, they showed their true colors and I will tell all I can about my experience.

Gander Mountain - Manager Review from Delta, Ohio

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
This AM I drove through miserable construction traffic to respond to Gander Mtn add for fishing gear savings here on Traverse City, Mi. When checked on a bin near the fishing dept. service area a non marked 50% off reels contained many models with some with orange tags showing the original & then the 50% off price. Other reels however only had a geen price tag, & the clerk in that dept. was busy with another customer so I couldn't clarify the whether the green price of $69.99 on a Mitchel 410 spinning reel was the amount before discount , so I finished selecting other gear & proceeded to the checkout counter. There the clerk entered the reel & your register showed $69.99 as the price. A manager happened by & she asked him for clarification. He replied that that was the regular price & there was no discount...was a discontinued model. He said the sign on the bin said "up to 50% off." I that replied even if he was correct about the sign, that it was very deceiving if there was NO discount at all! He said sorry no discount & walked away. As a long time Gander Mtn. Customer I was shocked & should have cancelled the remainder of my merchandise purchase, but left extremely disappointed with this interaction with your employee & determined never to shop at your store again. I thought you'd like to know for employee training purposes as well as to avoid future deceptive practices. Sincerely, Ray Schmekel Traverse City, Mi.

Very Poor Customer Service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
***Again, I have posted my experience and no contact or care from Gander mountain. It clearly shows how they feel about customer service.*** **BUYER & SELLER BEWARE** I know it was my decision to sell my firearm, but this is not sitting right to me. I had a Sig Sauer 1911 C3 (Brand New) bought it through Gander Mountain. NO rounds ever fired through is hand gun, it was still in the case. They told me they could only do 60% of the cost. That took me a moment to digest, and got over it. $1099.00 is what it originally cost me. After he came back from the back room, the sales person said he would give me $540 for the gun. That really through me for a loop, that was less than 50% & not 60 % as they promised. Unfortunately I stepped down and took the offer towards a Ruger SR1911. I won't buy any more firearms from Gander ever again, or sell any either. They are not for the customer at all, and take advantage of the American people. Thank You Gander Mountain for a negative buying experience !!

What other retailer buys firearms. None.

Firearms loss value whether you shot it once or 500 times. Used is used.

You obviously didn't read or comprehend my post. Typical response. There are many many retailers that buy back firearms that were purchased from them.

Gun purchase was a bait and switch sale

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Saw a Ruger LC9 lasermax on GM website for $479, with $50 gift card. Went to Indianapolis store, looked at other guns decided on Ruger.

Employee said they did not make the Ruger with Lasermax fitted but they had them as 2 separate items. I left an hour later with Ruger with Lasermax. I was charged $30 for 1 year something cover and a $15 holster, an hour I found the receipt and it totaled $600+, and no gift card. Called store and "John" manager said it was an error and if I drove back 22 miles to the store he would refund the overcharge and give me the missing $50 gift card.

When I arrived later same day another manager totally refused to make the deal straight. I left the store as the manager was totally rude. I then called GM corporate customer service. I explained how I was cheated and she agreed that it was incorrect.

She then said she would pass my concerns to the retail dept and should receive a call within 24 hrs. I purchased the gun 12/10/14 nothing heard from GM at all. This was my first and last purchase with this "company".

I can understand why they have 2 stars on Google maps review. They deserve one star.

Talked to the cashier today and he said the manager buys up all the ammo as it comes in stock off the trucks. Shouldn't have told me that! I've had my fair share of bad experiences at this store.

Summit Protection Plan

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Purchased a jacket at Gander Mountain and was sold a Summit Protection Plan as "if the item breaks just bring it back to the store for a replacement". After about 50 days the zipper broke and we returned to the store and found out that this was not the case. We had to call an 800#, wait for a shipping label or print one from the computer, drop package off to be mailed to Indiana, wait to get a gift card, and then return back to Gander Mountain to buy yet another cheap item. It's all about pushing insurance plans and credit cards when it should be about backing up the items you sell. Oh, did I mention poor customer service?

Our city/town just "gained" a gander mnt. This store is relevantly close to Bass Pro, which is their competition.

I just visited gander mnt and have to say they have HORRIBLE customer relations. I looked at firearms for approximately 10 mins, with at least 3 other customers and not one of 5 employees behind the counters even acknowledged any of us.

Needless to say, my business will be taken else where. Hate it bc I really wanted to see the store do well, must be why there were only about 20 customers in the store....

Just curious what store you went to. I work at Gander and I have returned several things for customers who purchased a summit protection plan.

Its supposed to be very simple, maybe the employee you dealt with was just too lazy to do their job. Sorry that happened to you though!

I got ticked when I took my fishing reel back to Gander Mtn. and was told they don't take care of that at the store.

I was told I have to call the #. The lady called the store and told them they have to take it back. It was still even in the manufacturer warranty. The store was at Evansville, IN.

We have plans to exchange it next Sunday now.

Over priced on everything

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
My daughter recently received her CCP and wanted a small revolver. She liked the Charter Arms 38. We went to Gander Mointain and the price for the weapon was $399.00 (new). Thinking it was high we went to a local pawn. She bought the gun for $369.00 and he gave her a free box of target rounds. This gun was brand new in the box. Point being a $30.00 dollar difference. It should have been the other way around. Being a large chain store you would think that Gander would have been $369.00 and the pawn shop $399.00. Just saying check your local mom and pop pawn shops first. Little guy trying to make a living and a great deal. Bobbi's Gun and Pawn. W. Franklin Blvd. Gastonia,NC. Great prices on guns and ammo.
