Gander Mountain - Gift Card Review from Washington, Missouri

Today, I actually had a great customer service experience from Gander Mountain. I misplaced a gift card. I brought a receipt into the store as the website told me to do. I met with associates up to the manager of the store who gave me the run around and were unfamiliar with there own store policies. Here is where it all turned around. My birthday girl was with me so there was no chance we were not buying a fishing pole while I was there. The receipt had a survey on it. So of course I had my chance to rip them. I told my story and submitted my responses with my complaint. Within one hour I received a phone call from a local number. Kevin said he was reviewing the surveys and wanted to help anyway he could. I told him my story and he apologized, good step one. Then he offered me solutions. Great step two. this man called me on his personal cell phone on a Sunday to try to make things better. In the end, I found my gift card and was absolutely amazed at his efforts. The store manager I could still do without but was thoroughly impressed with Kevin and the customer service provided by him and Gander Miuntain.

Gander Mountain Algonquin, IL- Won't remove trigger locks

I live close to the Gander Mountain in Algonquin IL, so I would like to be able to support them with my business; but they make it difficult. I went into the store last week with the intention of purchasing a Winchester SXP Defender shotgun. The first gun I examined had a few chipped places in the finish, so I declined that one. The second one had a better appearance,so I asked the employee to remove the big yellow trigger lock so I could properly evaluate the length of pull, trigger pull and pump action release. He said he could not do so without permissions from the store manager. When we approached her, she indicated that she "preferred that guns not be dry fired". As the trigger and action are the most critical parts of the gun, I am not about to purchase a gun without dry firing it. The store also has a "all firearm and ammunition sales are final" policy. The store manager is the one who fills out the paperwork for gun sales; so guns sales make more work for her. I do not think she was disappointed when I left the store. If you want to purchase overpriced clothing, they will gladly take care of you, but selling firearms is too much trouble. No wonder there are s more employees in the store than shoppers on most days.

I work for Gander Mountain as a zone supervisor and we are trained that once there is more then one person in line (not including the person cashing out), a second person is to come up and ring.

This doesn't seem like a racist issue....

We don't work on commission anyway (at least my store doesn't). Your spending amount means nothing to cashiers.

I was in the Fenton Mo. store at 8:45 pm 5/09/15. Was seriously trying to possibly buy a firearm, the employees at this location seemed to be more interested in talking with there friends more than being helpful. I was there until 9 pm, got tired of trying to get someone's attention, all I got was a waste of time. Seriously, how do you expect to stay in business at this location? I've made several 100 dollar plus purchases at this store, but doubt I will ever go back.

RE: the comment by Anonymous. I’m sure that everything you said could be true but that doesn’t change the experience that I had.

I had already waited patiently about fifteen minutes before the sales person asked who had numbers. If a customer has waited that long for service you have already screwed up.

That would mean the last guy could wait 2 hours? There is no excuse for poor customer service although it seems you could point out that it’s the customers fault.
