Absolute Worst Customer Service! | Gander Mountain in Rockford, Illinois

Last several visits the store has been understaffed; unable to check-out customers timely and serving customers out of turn. More often than not and the last 4 visits there is always some Boy Scout troop, soccer team,baseball team etc. soliciting for so etching which, although very nobel of Gamder, an irritant at best for a customer of Gander. Icing in the cake was yesterday, went to use a $10 card from Pheasants Forever. Just wanting to use the card up, one box of .22 rang up for $9.99 before tax. The cashier said I could not use it because my purchase was under $10.00. ONE PENNY. While I was waiting to check out, the cashier had a return that need manager approval, he called for a manager 3 times while I waited in lline, no show. After my "decline" to use my $10 card I asked to see a manager, again, no show. I left. Subsequently called the store 30 minutes later to discuss my situation. I was on-hold for approx 5 minutes before I was transferred around, the 5 minutes after that I finally talked to a manager. I also called out that the store is always understaffed. The managers response was because of ISIS, they are busy. I was unaware the Gander manager training program included a political science degree. Additionally, a manager training program should include how to handle customers instead of telling them how busy they are. I told the manager I hope they are so busy they sell out the whole store because I certainly won't be back. I normally receive several hundred dollars worth of Gander gift cards each holiday, I have since contacted my family members and asked for no Gander cards; frankly I would prefer no gift if that was all that was available. Bottom line, one penny, one lousy red cent, a manager who,thinks he understands politics, economics and consumer purchasing behavior coupled with several irritating factors and you lost a loyal customer. I would like a phone call from either a district manager or VP of sales (815) xxx-xxxx if this so important. I will assume no phone call means Gander Management really does not care. Emailed Gander on 12-13-15; no phone call as of 12-16-15

I am very upset with the grand opening, I was in the store at check out had some shot gun shells and buy one get one shirts. The cashier tells me that those was not the right ones when your appearl lady helped me, so go back to get the right one. When i get back I am suppose to go to the back of the line. I am upset at this point so just leave the store go to parking lot call manager Keith he said come back in a I will try to get you checked out as soon as i can. Never asked employee's name or said I am sorry, seemed like I was a bother. So I will not spend my hard earned money in a place that treats you like a I'm bother or my money does amount to anything. Very disappointed I was excited they was putting it in cause we hunt, fish, camp we are a out doors family. But I will drive to Carbondale before I get treated that way in front of my kids ever again. Marcia Massey
