Gander Mountain Algonquin, IL- Won't remove trigger locks

I live close to the Gander Mountain in Algonquin IL, so I would like to be able to support them with my business; but they make it difficult. I went into the store last week with the intention of purchasing a Winchester SXP Defender shotgun. The first gun I examined had a few chipped places in the finish, so I declined that one. The second one had a better appearance,so I asked the employee to remove the big yellow trigger lock so I could properly evaluate the length of pull, trigger pull and pump action release. He said he could not do so without permissions from the store manager. When we approached her, she indicated that she "preferred that guns not be dry fired". As the trigger and action are the most critical parts of the gun, I am not about to purchase a gun without dry firing it. The store also has a "all firearm and ammunition sales are final" policy. The store manager is the one who fills out the paperwork for gun sales; so guns sales make more work for her. I do not think she was disappointed when I left the store. If you want to purchase overpriced clothing, they will gladly take care of you, but selling firearms is too much trouble. No wonder there are s more employees in the store than shoppers on most days.

I was at your Ofallon Illinois store on May 10th and asked a salesman if they would match Cabella's online price for the Vortex Talon HD binoculars. He said he thought he could and called corporate and they told him know which is fine but don't advertise it. I live in Illinois and I like to spend my money as close to my hometown as possible. Cabella's is in Missouri and only a 20 minute drive for me which I did buy online for $279.95 and free shipping. I have all the paperwork if you would like to see it. Like I said don't advertise we will match any online price. I would like to hear why you could not meet the price. My e-mail is cjeter1950@icloud.com. Hope to hear from someone. All I wanted was to spend my money close to home nothing else.

Short Review on July 30, 2016

Extremely dissatisfied with customer service at the Woodbury MN store. 30 minutes strolling around the store, 10 of which standing at the firearms counter. Not once did anyone stop to ask if they could help me. Im not a shopper, Im a buyer. If I stop at a store there is a 95% chance Im spending money there. Not this time and likely not again with Gander Mountain.

Absolute Worst Customer Service! | Gander Mountain review from Rockford, Illinois

Last several visits the store has been understaffed; unable to check-out customers timely and serving customers out of turn. More often than not and the last 4 visits there is always some Boy Scout troop, soccer team,baseball team etc. soliciting for so etching which, although very nobel of Gamder, an irritant at best for a customer of Gander. Icing in the cake was yesterday, went to use a $10 card from Pheasants Forever. Just wanting to use the card up, one box of .22 rang up for $9.99 before tax. The cashier said I could not use it because my purchase was under $10.00. ONE PENNY. While I was waiting to check out, the cashier had a return that need manager approval, he called for a manager 3 times while I waited in lline, no show. After my "decline" to use my $10 card I asked to see a manager, again, no show. I left. Subsequently called the store 30 minutes later to discuss my situation. I was on-hold for approx 5 minutes before I was transferred around, the 5 minutes after that I finally talked to a manager. I also called out that the store is always understaffed. The managers response was because of ISIS, they are busy. I was unaware the Gander manager training program included a political science degree. Additionally, a manager training program should include how to handle customers instead of telling them how busy they are. I told the manager I hope they are so busy they sell out the whole store because I certainly won't be back. I normally receive several hundred dollars worth of Gander gift cards each holiday, I have since contacted my family members and asked for no Gander cards; frankly I would prefer no gift if that was all that was available. Bottom line, one penny, one lousy red cent, a manager who,thinks he understands politics, economics and consumer purchasing behavior coupled with several irritating factors and you lost a loyal customer. I would like a phone call from either a district manager or VP of sales (815) xxx-xxxx if this so important. I will assume no phone call means Gander Management really does not care. Emailed Gander on 12-13-15; no phone call as of 12-16-15

I am very upset with the grand opening, I was in the store at check out had some shot gun shells and buy one get one shirts. The cashier tells me that those was not the right ones when your appearl lady helped me, so go back to get the right one. When i get back I am suppose to go to the back of the line. I am upset at this point so just leave the store go to parking lot call manager Keith he said come back in a I will try to get you checked out as soon as i can. Never asked employee's name or said I am sorry, seemed like I was a bother. So I will not spend my hard earned money in a place that treats you like a I'm bother or my money does amount to anything. Very disappointed I was excited they was putting it in cause we hunt, fish, camp we are a out doors family. My wife & I went to new Gander Mountain in Algonquin,Illinois,(on Randall Rd) to check out handguns looking for a pistol for her. & female sales rep at gun counter showed us several pistols,new and used,all high priced. I told her we were shopping around and asked if she worked on commission which she said she did. I said,ok,give my wife your card and she says OH,OK,YES SIR!! Don't be ordering me around cuz I'm not your wife. I said,do you want the commission?I am trying to help you.At no time Needless to say,we will NOT be going there again for ANYTHING!

You may abuse your wife and push her around but she stood up to you. My guess is you think because you are a man you can push women around.

The only wrong thing she did was called you sir, you do not deserve to be called a sir. You did not allow your wife to get the gun from there because that lady stood up to you.

You sound like one of those abusive men who control their wives. You were rude, because someone stood up to you you call them rude?
