This AM I drove through miserable construction traffic to respond to Gander Mtn add for fishing gear savings here on Traverse City, Mi. When checked on a bin near the fishing dept. service area a non marked 50% off reels contained many models with some with orange tags showing the original & then the 50% off price. Other reels however only had a geen price tag, & the clerk in that dept. was busy with another customer so I couldn't clarify the whether the green price of $69.99 on a Mitchel 410 spinning reel was the amount before discount , so I finished selecting other gear & proceeded to the checkout counter. There the clerk entered the reel & your register showed $69.99 as the price. A manager happened by & she asked him for clarification. He replied that that was the regular price & there was no discount...was a discontinued model. He said the sign on the bin said "up to 50% off." I that replied even if he was correct about the sign, that it was very deceiving if there was NO discount at all! He said sorry no discount & walked away. As a long time Gander Mtn. Customer I was shocked & should have cancelled the remainder of my merchandise purchase, but left extremely disappointed with this interaction with your employee & determined never to shop at your store again. Not honoring marked price! | Gander Mountain in Altoona, Pennsylvania

I went to Gander Mt to look at pistols on my lunch hour, and in the "clearance" bin at the back of store there was a set of binoculars (Bear Grylls 10 x 42) marked to 19.99. I picked them up and looked them over, and ended up putting them back down. Came back a few minutes later and picked them up to purchase thinking that they were worth $20.00 even as the display model. When I got up front to check out and pay, they informed me they were marked wrong and they were really 95.00....(the manager was then going to take another $20 off to be $75.00). As a pretty active family, we purchase alot of sporting goods throughout the year, but I can promise it will never be from Gander Mountain.

Gander Mountain - Manager Review from Gibsonia, Florida

Gander Mountain At 7:27pm 9/29/14 I stopped by the local Gander Mountain to pick up a trail cam and a pocket knife. I have been in the market for a new rifle for a few years now and after talking to a co worker, who is a retired police officer, about the gun laws in Michigan I decided to go ahead and do some shopping while I was there. Now I'm a pretty clean cut guy and nothing about the way that I was dressed or presented myself would have thrown up any red flags for someone not to sell me a firearm. I told the man behind the counter that "I was in to buy a trail cam and have been looking to buy another rifle for awhile now. I was wondering what Michigan's state laws are on buying a rifle with an out of state license"? After taking literally two seconds to look at a piece of paper he stated that he "was not allowed to sell me ANY gun that they carried". When asked if this was a state law or company policy he said its "state law". He never asked me what state that I was from. After buying my things and leaving I decided to do some research on Michigan's state gun laws.... I travel for a living and am pretty clear on what most gun laws are due to the fact that I have bought several firearms in several different states. This particular instance was starting to look a little discriminatory to me due to the fact that he refused to sell me "ANY gun that they carry" when the law clearly states that this is untrue. On the way home I called the manager of the store and politely questioned her about the situation. After I was hung up on once (she said that it was an "accident") she stated that the reason I couldn't buy a rifle from them was "because my state (Oklahoma) was a no sale state" (which is also untrue). I then asked her why he refused to sell me ANY gun without even asking what state I was from? She the stated that he must have thought that I was wanting to buy a handgun with a out of state license. I had made it very clear, from the beginning, that I was interested in a rifle. I do realize that I have a southern accent and am curious if all of this was due to the fact that I am not a "local". Either way this experience has ruined Gander Mountain for me and I will never set foot in another one of their stores, up north or down south. RE: the comment by Anonymous. I’m sure that everything you said could be true but that doesn’t change the experience that I had.

I had already waited patiently about fifteen minutes before the sales person asked who had numbers. If a customer has waited that long for service you have already screwed up.

That would mean the last guy could wait 2 hours? There is no excuse for poor customer service although it seems you could point out that it’s the customers fault.

Talked to the cashier today and he said the manager buys up all the ammo as it comes in stock off the trucks. Shouldn't have told me that! I've had my fair share of bad experiences at this store.

Paid safe deal waiting for two months | Gander Mountain in Dickson City, Pennsylvania

I went to your store in Dickson city,Pa and I bought a safe for a fair price at 320.and change and first the associate that sold the safe was the manager and sold me the wrong one. Brought it home took it out realized that it was not the one I wanted. So me and my brother went back to the store at the Dickson city location and we brought it in and wanting to exchanged it, and it was not in stock. So I waited for two months now and still no response I want to be compensated please, I shop at your stores all the time I have a membership card and use it all the time. So please ask your manager to order it for me,and the safe was not a Christmas present im shopping there more for the Holidays. Thank you, John j Thiel.....

Gun problems, Henrietta NY | Gander Mountain

Tried to purchase my first gun ever (i'm 20) and my licence had my PO box address instead of my home address. The clerk was very unprofessional and ripped the registration papers off the table and said "were done here" his manager also had to tell him to calm down. Long story short the gun clerk threatened to call the State Troopers because of my ID not having my house address. My father who has a pistol permit was also turned down just because he was with me. Anyone else had this sort of thing happen to them at Gander Mtn?

False Charges | Gander Mountain

Gander Mountain stole my money. The manager and cashiers were incapable of providing a receipt at checkout. After I refused to take the products if they could not provide a receipt, they then claimed that they could not credit the money back to my card because I did not have a receipt and they could not find the transaction. I filed a credit dispute with my bank and the manager promised that they would verify that the charges were false and that would be the end of it. Said manager also provided a written memo describing the "mix up." My bank just came back and said they provided "evidence" that the charge was valid. All this after being unable to find the charge in their system to cancel while we were in the store and having to wait there for 45 minutes while the cashiers and manager fumbled around not knowing what to do. Worst customer service ever. What kind of business refuses to provide a refund when they cannot do their jobs and give a receipt? Not a respectable business. Not only am I never shopping at Gander Mountain again, I am filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. And if this goes on unresolved for much longer, a civil/criminal suit of fraud. Incompetent and unreliable would be good descriptions of Gander Mountain service.
