False Advertisement | Gander Mountain in Columbus, Ohio

Got the new flyer in the mail. Looking through it, I noticed a Ruger LCP at an outrageously high price of $399. Found the local gun shop ad, they had it advertised for $219. On the front page of the Gander Mountain ad, they clearly state that not only do they price match, but they will also give you 10% of the difference! I read the fine print on the back and there was no sign of them not accepting this. I made the trip to the store and asked the sales associate if they would price match. He responded to me that they would, but he had to check their cost first. At this point, I am confused...why would it matter if you are going to match the price? He comes back and says he is sorry but he can not, their cost was $280 and he says the best they could do was $300. I asked for a manager, the manager proceeded to tell me that they can not sell anything for less than they paid....it would be bad business. He also told me that they have this posted at the front of the store. I agreed with him that it's bad business, especially that his competition is obviously purchasing the same items for much less. I'm sure Gander Mountain is a much larger purchaser than any local gun dealer.  After leaving and investigating this issue, I did find in the ad's fine print that you can go to their website for further details.  They do say on the website several things that they will not and can not match prices on.  Wasted a lot of time only to find out the claim on the ad is FALSE.

Bad Experience | Gander Mountain in Oldsmar, Florida

One of the most negative experiences I have had with a store. My sister gave me a nice sweatshirt for Christmas. I have one like it so wanted a different color. The tag was in it at a cost of $49 plus change and they were selling the same one for that price. The clerk told me because I didn't have receipt I could only get a $19.95 product. They had some sweatshirts on sale for $29 plus change so I paid the extra. I took it to the truck and went back to look at things and go to the bathroom. I noticed the $19 sweatshirts were junk so I decided to take back the one I brought in. The clerk couldn't figure it out so a guy (seemed to be a manager) came up and a girl (very nice) came up to help and he said " I'm just trying to get him out the door". Thank goodness for ***'s and Bass Pro as I will not go one of these stores again. the store I went to was in Oldsmar, FL

This AM I drove through miserable construction traffic to respond to Gander Mtn add for fishing gear savings here on Traverse City, Mi. When checked on a bin near the fishing dept. service area a non marked 50% off reels contained many models with some with orange tags showing the original & then the 50% off price. Other reels however only had a geen price tag, & the clerk in that dept. was busy with another customer so I couldn't clarify the whether the green price of $69.99 on a Mitchel 410 spinning reel was the amount before discount , so I finished selecting other gear & proceeded to the checkout counter. There the clerk entered the reel & your register showed $69.99 as the price. A manager happened by & she asked him for clarification. He replied that that was the regular price & there was no discount...was a discontinued model. He said the sign on the bin said "up to 50% off." I that replied even if he was correct about the sign, that it was very deceiving if there was NO discount at all! He said sorry no discount & walked away. As a long time Gander Mtn. Customer I was shocked & should have cancelled the remainder of my merchandise purchase, but left extremely disappointed with this interaction with your employee & determined never to shop at your store again. I thought you'd like to know for employee training purposes as well as to avoid future deceptive practices. Sincerely, Ray Schmekel Traverse City, Mi.

Saw a Ruger LC9 lasermax on GM website for $479, with $50 gift card. Went to Indianapolis store, looked at other guns decided on Ruger. Employee said they did not make the Ruger with Lasermax fitted but they had them as 2 separate items. I left an hour later with Ruger...

Talked to the cashier today and he said the manager buys up all the ammo as it comes in stock off the trucks. Shouldn't have told me that! I've had my fair share of bad experiences at this store.
