Pay shipping on both ends | Gander Mountain in Houston, Texas

I bought two outboard motor covers. One fit perfectly, the other didn't fit as it was supposed to on my motor. I paid for inbound shipping - no big deal, but they want me to pay for outbound shipping too!!?? If this were a return where I would need another item in stock this would cost me three way shipping. The shipping would end up costing more than the original item. Not very customer friendly. Bass Pro and West Marine is where I will shop in the future. Gander should take a gander at Amazon and learn a thing or two.

Ignored at counter while talking with friend. | Gander Mountain in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Visited Gander Mtn. at the Waukesha, WI store about 2 pm. on11 April to buy a $500.00 plus 9mm handgun and stood at the counter while the salesman told the customer his order could be picked up tomorrow. They then proceeded to chew the fat about the customer's grandkid, etc, for 10 minutes while I stood about 5 feet from them. I was never asked if I needed help, or stated he would be with me in a minute, etc.. Obviously I left, since they were not interested in selling me the handgun and keeping me as a customer. On leaving, a girl asked if I found what I wanted and I said, "No, and I'm not happy that they were just shooting the sh.. and not interested in selling me a gun." She didn't bother to ask if she could be of help either or straighten out the problem. Big surprise there, it seems. The company lost a sale and a customer by their incompetence and uncaring attitude. (Their loss, not mine--just the time wasted)

False advertising on price match policy | Gander Mountain in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania

Store would not price match online pricing, even walmart who is a direct competitor less than 10 minutes away. Called the company and was hung up on, had to call back. Was then transferred to customer service and had to leave a message. It looks like the management in the stores do not have the authority to make educated decisions based on real world business practices. In the future, Gander mountain might want to up their level of customer service to compete in the real world and stay in business. I would definitively not do business with this company ever again!

Yea thats dumb, they price match other competitors within a sixty mile radius that has the exact same item in stock or any printed add from any major competitor, so if your overpaying its noones fault but your own, do your research! Also as far as matching online prices like they said earlier you obviously know nothing about quality, return policy or anything else if you think China mart is the holy grail of retail!

This isn't a matter of intelligence. This is a matter of practicality. It is silly to think they would price match something from another store. You want to buy some rinky *** Wal-Mart stuff.

Go right ahead. See what you get. If you had a store (a large commercial store) would you price match things on ebay? that are only a $1?

NO. and why? because you would go out of business. Everyone wants everything for nothing.

You don't like it leave. You can choose to buy it or not.

Chaos buying ammunition | Gander Mountain in Middletown, New York

I stood in line to buy a few boxes of .22. When the store opened people ran to the back. The store didn't even take the ammo out of the cases. People were fighting grabbing cases and cases of ammo. There was no limit some people grabbed $3000 worth of ammo. I managed to grab a bulk pack of 223 for $129.00. Someone was mad and said "you can sell that for double online".. cmon gander limit what people can buy so everyone can get some ammo. There is a shortage here and new York and people are buying it all to resell it, not use it. I overheard people saying *** they make thousands going to your stores and buying all the ammo and marking it up.Take care of your customers. There was a woman who wasn't strong enough to fight to grab ammo and she got nothing. The store just leaves the ammo in the cases in carts and let's the customers fight over it. Do something now! You just need to call the corporate Gander number, something like this they would be fired for, their are policies and limits, ten boxes is the one current, but at this point in every state ammo is hard to find!

I PURCHASED A FIRE ARM AND DID SO UNDER PRESSURE DUE TO A SALES MAN STATING THERE WOULD BE A 6 mo wait if not purchased now,,after changing my schedule and rushing down to get it,a week later they have another one for sale..my wife is a permitted to carry a side ARM and at this same time of pick up my wife stood at the counter invisible to any clerk,the gun she wanted she just decided against buying at grander mountain in rothchild wi. I had a problem with my weapon I purchased and grander would not step up they said they would send it in..I just bought a brand new weapon and it has to be returned..spoke to the store mgr and he had absolutely no answers or apologies,I called to get the no for some one above him to get some women who gave me the run around..I took care of the problem my self and I have wasted more time to get some one to recognize the problem.

If you have been aware of the recent 'run' on guns, you'd know that the clerk was probably being straight with you when he said it might be 6 months before it would be available again. The handgun section of most gun shops are 80% empty because they can't get guns.

If they had another to sell the next week, it was probably just pure luck on their part that they got one. As far as problems with the gun, since guns are regulated by BATFE, most dealers will not just swap guns with you like they might for a bad TV.

The proper approach is to return it to the manufacturer and can be done yourself simply by calling them and arrangements will be made to send it back. I see nothing wrong done by Gander in this case.

I.wanted to return what i had taken as a gift for someone on christmas . No.wonder there was steven who.was taking care of us n bill .they were giving me cash back .a man enters he manager or something ,he says e cannot do nything . He was lik.rude.later .i.told him i am aregular customer .but he wont listen .i was insulted infront of many people around I.am.never going back but i.ll.also lodge a offficial complaint regards I will also would like to have a apology letter . Things will ever go ugly at that place o never knew .i should have listened to a few friends who dont like their customer service either

Gander Moutain Customer Service SUCKS!!! | Gander Mountain in San Jose, California

A really nice hunting pack was bought for me by my mother-in-law for my birthday from Gander Mountain. The strap on it broke as I was hiking in the mountains on a hunting trip. My mother-in-law couldn't find the receipt for it. I thought, no big deal, I'm sure they'll still replace it. They wouldn't want to lose a lifetime customer over one backpack right?!?! WRONG!!! They told me they saw the purchase under my mother-in-law's name onlline so they would replace the pack.... I had to pay for shipping to ship my broken pack to them (unacceptable) and they sent me an incorrect backpack to replace it that was much cheaper and lower quality. I called customer service and the woman (Heather Williams) was extremely rude and said there is nothing they can do unless I can get my mother-in-law to find a receipt for proof-of-purchase. So now I have NO RECEIPT AND THEY HAVE MY BROKEN BACKPACK!!! I had no proof that I owned this pack anymore so I wrote an email to customer service complaining about the mix-up and gave them 2 options 1) send me back my broken pack so i have proof that i own it 2) send me the CORRECT replacement backpack. THEY CHOSE OPTION 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What kind of place sends a customer their broken item back instead of replacing it????? In that email I also told Heather to forward it to her supervisor and I specifically requested confirmation from that supervisor that they were aware of the situation. It has been 2 days since I received a reply from Heather saying that she sent it to her supervisor, so two days since the supervisor got my email AND STILL NO RESPONSE!!!!! I used to shop there all the time, and just last year my father-in-law bought me a rifle from there that was $800. I can tell you that I'll never shop there again and this is just one of many stops on several blogs to share my experience.

Gander Mountain customer service does suck! I just spent 15 minutes on hold with no end in sight.

Ordered online and they promised merchandise would ship in 5 days.

Then received e-mail that it wont ship for more than 2 months and you can't cancel order. Won't buy from them again.

Well obviously they didnt have another one of those packs, you cant blame them for selling out of an item! They would have returned your $ if your mil hadnt have lost the receipt, so they didnt do anything wrong here that i can see!
