Gander Mountain in Rockford, Illinois - Absolute Worst Customer Service!

Last several visits the store has been understaffed; unable to check-out customers timely and serving customers out of turn. More often than not and the last 4 visits there is always some Boy Scout troop, soccer team,baseball team etc. soliciting for so etching which, although very nobel of Gamder, an irritant at best for a customer of Gander. Icing in the cake was yesterday, went to use a $10 card from Pheasants Forever. Just wanting to use the card up, one box of .22 rang up for $9.99 before tax. The cashier said I could not use it because my purchase was under $10.00. ONE PENNY. While I was waiting to check out, the cashier had a return that need manager approval, he called for a manager 3 times while I waited in lline, no show. After my "decline" to use my $10 card I asked to see a manager, again, no show. I left. Subsequently called the store 30 minutes later to discuss my situation. I was on-hold for approx 5 minutes before I was transferred around, the 5 minutes after that I finally talked to a manager. I also called out that the store is always understaffed. The managers response was because of ISIS, they are busy. I was unaware the Gander manager training program included a political science degree. Additionally, a manager training program should include how to handle customers instead of telling them how busy they are. I told the manager I hope they are so busy they sell out the whole store because I certainly won't be back. I normally receive several hundred dollars worth of Gander gift cards each holiday, I have since contacted my family members and asked for no Gander cards; frankly I would prefer no gift if that was all that was available. Bottom line, one penny, one lousy red cent, a manager who,thinks he understands politics, economics and consumer purchasing behavior coupled with several irritating factors and you lost a loyal customer. I would like a phone call from either a district manager or VP of sales (815) xxx-xxxx if this so important. I will assume no phone call means Gander Management really does not care. Emailed Gander on 12-13-15; no phone call as of 12-16-15

Went to the gander mountain that just opened in myrtle beach SC. The cashier was very rude. Then when I came back to return some stuff. Another cashier by the name of DEBBIE was even more rude to me and made snide remarks under her breath to a manager which I heard. First off lemme start by saying I and my friends were excited to see a Gander Mountain going up in Tulsa Oklahoma. BUT, today will be the last time I set foot in that store. They may be the largest firearms retailer in the U.S. But they DO NOT know how to even print out a simple hunting listened or give me a straight answer on the Federal Duck stamp I was needing.. Cashier..uhh No we don't have those...if this was the 1st time or if the CUSTOMER SRVICE cashier would be more focused on helping me get in and out at even a snails pace. No, not only did she try several times to "IDK" me from the Empty counter counter..but she left when we had finally arrived at the "print 1" button and she would've had my hard earned money gladly. After to long for anybody with anything else to do but pop in a get a simple liscence could wait I grabbed my ID and drove over to Academy.(which is close to my house). Parked..walked in to BUSY customer service counter, got my waterfowl package an I was done!! I've gone to the gander mountain Tulsa store 4 times and 3 were for purchases. Never again...the same problem has re occurred on all 3 purchasing trips...good thing I didn't trade my AR for that sweet new Super Nova ya'll had. Oh well..guess I'll get that to at Academy,or Bass Pro...I was literally your first and last customer as off today and probably all my pals. If you wanna sell guns and the cramp everyone else sells at least have Desent plan for selling it. When I called the manager he acted like we got cut off and said he "had none what was going on and they hope to fix it soon"..psh..ya right.

Didn't get resolved and me and about 20 other folks will never spend a dime there again. Rather give my money to any other place than Gander Mountain.

I had a "district Manager" call on September 25th. 18 days after I was told someone would call within 24-48 hours.

He stood his ground and said that managers use their own discretion on any returns. I told him as a customer, I will be using my discretion on where I shop and I nor any of my family will ever step foot in a Gander Mountain again.

There is a bigger issue here now, this company has shown that Customer Service is NOT their priority. And thus in that has lost another customer.

Just left the Lake Mary Florida store to return a real tree bathing suit after having it on and getting wet, the bathing suit stretched to the point of me holding it up. I read the return policy, nothing about bathing suits. Went to the store, cashier just needed manager approval the manager said absolutely not since it was hygiene issue. I explained their return policy and that I was not returning it because I didn't like it. He read the return policy went to the register and then looked me in the eye handed me the receipt and said I am not going to do it. He said he didn't care what the return policy was that he has discretion. I called the customer service number and they said the same thing, although NO where on the receipt or website or in store says that. She said it was up to the mangers to do what they want. I have never been more disappointed in a store. I will NOT step foot into another GM rest assure and I will let all my friends know what happened.

Interesting to hear that Gander Mountain has some rather arrogant people working for it. The manager's reasoning lacks in common sense, given what happened. Best to stay away from GM and shop at Cabela's, tho make sure you never shop at ***'s Sporting Goods after how they treated people who ordered stuff a few years ago and then arbitrarily cancelled all their orders in an attempt to become politically correct.

I still just can not believe it, he was a ***. No other words, He did not care what their return policy said nor the fact that it is not posted anywhere.

I will NEVER step foot in there again.

I wish we had a Cabela's here, we don't but we do have a Bass Pro and I have never had an issue with them. EVER!

I just reasofly went into one there stores on capital Blvd, in Raleigh NC. My items came up to 36.00 , and I asked for my military discount, as I always do wherever I shop, and the young cashier, informed me , this expense sport store only .. Give military a discount, twice a year, I. Informed the store supervisor, that this was pretty sorry , and I was going to asked all veterans, to please not shop, with them. And only support, stores or , other businesses , that respect what ,our military people, risk their lives, for idiots like them can be free, and safe.. we as veterans, should always, ask, and demand a discount. And support the places , that will show us, how they. Feel about the military.

I am very upset with the grand opening, I was in the store at check out had some shot gun shells and buy one get one shirts. The cashier tells me that those was not the right ones when your appearl lady helped me, so go back to get the right one. When i get back I am suppose to go to the back of the line. I am upset at this point so just leave the store go to parking lot call manager Keith he said come back in a I will try to get you checked out as soon as i can. Never asked employee's name or said I am sorry, seemed like I was a bother. So I will not spend my hard earned money in a place that treats you like a I'm bother or my money does amount to anything. Very disappointed I was excited they was putting it in cause we hunt, fish, camp we are a out doors family. But I will drive to Carbondale before I get treated that way in front of my kids ever again. Marcia Massey

Extremely rude, inept, and condescending employees at the North Charleston, SC. I was in the shoe department for 10 minutes and the employee helped everyone except for me. The cashier was rude and could not even tell me the original price of the "clearance" shoes.

Yeah, he needs treatment right away! I've seen ridiculous stuff on here before but this takes the cake. So he yelled "Can I help you?" How unprofessional! I'd suggest you don't go to CiCi's pizza.

They will freak you out - they all yell "Welcome to Cici's" at the top of their lungs. They do so becaues corporate told them to.

Maybe this manager looks "Uncomfortable" because he doesn't like yelling to the customers but has to. You have no complaint.

Hey I just would like to let you and everyone else know that yes gander can look up your receipt by your credit card and the only reason they give the lowest price in the last 90 day if you have no receipts is so people don't steal things and try to get cash for them.
