High pressure sign up.

Just left the gander outdoors store in Lacrosse WI, (PISSED) I was waiting in line to buy a fish finder with two other people a head of me and three others behind me . with one checker working. The women ahead of me was trying to buy a t-shirt, And all the checker was doing was trying to get her to sign up for charge card. She went on and on about what a good deal it was and this and that until the poor women broke down and agreed to sign up. painfully clear she didn't want to. buy the time I put the fish finder on the counter and walked out there was about six people behind me and the poor women was still not done signing up. What a joke, and a waste of time. Jay Gillette Lacrescent, MN

Unprofessional company extended warranty fraudsters

I was foolish enough to purchase the extended warranty plans for the firearms I purchased at gander mountain. I was rudefully informed by a salesmen and then by a store manager that gander mountain warranty plans are no longer honored at any of their stores that are closing and that they are protected under bankruptcy proceeding.

No refund or compensation would be offered to their customers. I later am informed by a firearms manufacturer that no extended warranty is ever needed as all manufacturers will repair or replace all firearms from original owners that are defective and have not been modified.. Free of charge.

Shipping paid for included. This Gander Mountain extended warranty plan was not needed and is clearly designed to defraud and mislead the customers.

Poor quality tent

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I purchased a tent from Gander Mountain in Flint, MI. in June. My family has an annual camping trip at the beginning of August, so I had not used the tent since then. It was a $300, 10 person tent. Advertised as a high quality tent. Upon doing my initial set-up my wife and I noticed the material of the bottom of the tent. To start with the color (white) it already looks like I have been using it for 10 years because how stained it is. Also noticed was the thickness of the bottom, it was as thick as the side walls. It was my experience that tents have a thicker material used for the bottom. This usually helps with foot traffic and especially preventing puncture from the elements (rocks and sticks). We are so disappointed. Since the company is now closing down, does anyone know if I have any options to be a satisfied customer?

Bad business

Went in found water ski on clearance asked sales person if it was a slalom ski. He told me yes so l bought it. Got home only to find out that there should be two. Went back to return and they would not give me money back. Management was rude. Now i why they are closing and reopening under new name. I spent a lot of money there in past years. I will not set foot in new store. All over a measly $35.00 dollars. Now that's bad business.

Disallowed Rewards Certificate

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

On the 9th of May, I went to my local Gander Mountain store to use a gift card and $30 of Rewards Certificates.. I purchased $150 of merchandise, used the gift card and tried to redeem the Rewards Certificates.

The sales person said that they would not honor the Rewards Certificates. I asked why ? They said that the corporate office told them in that morning that the certificates were invalid... He gave me a card that had the Gander Mountain website and suggested I contact customer service.......website did not function .

I guess I am out $30...

It is unfortunate that the Gander Mountain company treats its customers in this way. It may be a hint to why they are going out of business.

I have a couple of $10 rewards certificates that expire in late July and August 2017. I'm staying in Ontario Canada for the summer at a lake and figured I would order some Gander Mtn merchandise online to use up my $20 worth of EARNED reward credit, but there is apparently no functioning online catalog at this time.

The new company "Gander Outdoors" states that you can still use the rewards certificates IN STORE, but this does not help me at all since I'm hundreds of miles from the nearest one, and will not get close to a store location until after the certificates expire. I don't feel this is fair to a customer who has earned these certificates through Gander Moutain Credit Card use.

Why should I be penalized just because they temporarily shut down their online catalog? That's their issue, not the customer's.

Hopefully you still have the rewards certificates. There was some back and forth on whether or not these could be used at first but now it appears settled that they are taking the rewards certificates.

Thanks.

Call my local GM

They said come down , they will honor the certificates....

I have over $300 in rewards certificates and now they tell me they cannot be used. Gander Mtn tells me I should receive info in the mail about the rewards certificates and "possible" reimbursement in the coming months.

Problem is the rewards expire soon. What a bunch of bull... I was informed by my local store to go to the US bankruptcy web site and the information should be on there, but they had no specific web address or link.

I spent over an hour on various government bankruptcy sites to no avail... Very unhappy and yes...pissed

They are not honoring gift card

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

they announced that they were going to close select stores. I visited my local store about one month ago and was told that store would NOT be closing and that I would be able to continue to use my gift card.

Well, this past Memorial Day weekend I visited the store to shop and when I got there I noticed these big signs announcing the closing of the store and when I went to checkout the cashier informed me that they no longer accept the gift cards they sold. I spoke to the store manager and he told me the same thing.

They are closing down Gander Mountain and reopening as Gander Outdoors. WHAT A RIP-OFF!!!!!

When you purchase a gift card, you have in fact made an unsecured loan to that company. When that company goes out of business, you have to file a claim with the bankruptcy court just like a vendor that is owed money.

It stinks because you probably will get little if any amount back of your claim. This wasn't Gander Mountain's decision or the liquidators, it is part of the bankruptcy code.

Over $20?.....Now I know why Gander Mountain is going out of business....

Im looking for a firearm and registered online for GM last week thinking I might buy it online and immediately received an online email coupon to "unlock $20 off" when you click the "unlock $20 off" it links you to the GM liquidation sale so I thought .....hmmm must have something to do with that so I went in. I picked out a nice Under Armor shirt and went to the register.

When I asked the young gal at the register about the "$20 off" and showed her the email and link on my phone, she said it "wasn't valid because of the liquidation sale". I advised her that the "unlock $20 off" link went straight to the GM promo for the "liquidation sale"......"ALL 126 locations" it said. She wasn't having any of it and really acted like she didn't want me there and simply kept parroting this in a monotone robot voice. I asked for the manager.

Manager came over and repeated what she said......"wasn't valid because of the liquidation sale". I also showed him the email and link on my phone and asked why the "unlock $20 off" went straight to the "liquidation sale" link for "ALL 126 stores". He didn't have an answer. So I asked the manager why GM sends me a $20 off email coupon for a liquidation sale at "All 126 stores" and then says "we can't honor that because there is a liquidation sale going on".

He didn't have an answer.......so I asked "its just a BS scam promotion to get you in the door"?......and he actually shrugged his shoulders and sheepishly nodded his head yes! Guess it's really not his fault.....he's just doing what he's told. But seems like a very lousy company culture of poor company service.

May be just a little thing but think about how many people got emails like this and walked away from GM pissed off when Academy Sports and Outdoors sells things probably cheaper right down the road. If I was a company CEO, I would be thumping heads over silly stuff like this.......

DON'T trust Gander Mtn!! I Bought a Sig Sauer model M11.

Opened box and discovered it only contained one 13 round magazine. Called Sig corporate and discovered they shipped the gun with 3 15 round mags.

They advised greenwood IN store must have taken two of the mags and substituted the other mag for one of 13 round capacity. I was ripped off by Gander Mtn!

"liquidation sale" means just that---liquidation. Gander Mountain filed Ch.

11 receivership a few weeks ago and now has file for liquidation, ie., going out of business---altho I have read some statements that they intend on opening some, who-knows when, where or how many---stores in the "future." I always like Gander Mountain and have no idea what happened but that's the story in a nutshell. Find another store, altho stay away from ***'s Sporting Goods as they really messed with people who ordered a certain long gun a few years ago---arbitrarily cancelled their orders.

Definitely not a company to trust. Cabela and Dunham are fine.

Yes....I knew it was a liquidation sale. The $20 off was a direct link to the liquidation sale basically saying.....come to our liquidation sale....here's $20 off when you get here.

But hey, not a big deal....just wanted people to not to fall for it. I just hate poor customer service.....a pet peeve of mine.

Betrayed, misled and robbed

We have been loyal customers for almost two decades, credit card included. We had $60 in rewards and went in today to pick up some favorite items before they were gone forever. With a LOT of items, I was also told they would NOT HONOR THEIR COMMITMENT! We used that card with the explicit knowledge thay we would recieve precise rewards. Without warning, they cancel everything. There is no one to call. Believe me I tried. The poor sales associate was clueless. And we are out $60 that we are owed PLUS what we've earned since recieving those. Not to mention time - time in that store. Time spent working, believing we would be rewarded by paying bills thru the card. Time driving an hour one way to get there. Again - zero warning, zero integrity. Shameful. You owe us. The numbers provided just squeal like an old fax machine. Why? Because they clearly do not care for their customers. Shame on you, GM! Oh and it appears the card will not allow arbitration, so we don't know what will happen. What is wrong with you people. Bankruptcy isn't an excuse to use people and lie to them.

I feel your pain. Same thing happened to us.

We have an $80.00 certificate that is now worthless, yet GM got our money for those purchases to earn the rewards. They gave us a strip of paper and said we could file a claim. The web address only takes you to the usbankruptcycourt.org page.

Nothing there we could find about filing a claim against what GM owes us. What a rip off GM turned out to be!

I went to gander mountain to use my reward certificates in early May and a sign posted there indicated my rewards certificates would not be honored. So I left somewhat annoyed.

I checked the gander mountain website today, May 27th, to see what recourse I had. The website indicated they would honor the rewards certificates. I called my local store and they confirmed they would honor the rewards certificates. I went to the store and indeed the rewards certificates were honored.

I was pleased to be able to use my more than $100 in rewards certificates. Using the rewards certificates, and some cash, I purchased men's shoes, shorts, and a shirt.

Each item was on sale for 25% off. So my rewards certificates went further than I thought they would go.

Unfortunately, your only recourse is to file a claim through the bankruptcy court. When you purchase a gift card, you if effect have become a lender to the company for that amount. Just as vendors who are owed money, so are gift card holders so you have to go through the judicial system.

Refusal of Service Dog

On Saturday, June 10th at 11:45am at the Montgomery, Al store my service dog in training was refused and we were told he was too big. This is not a valid reason for refusal. Only two questions can be asked concerning a service dog and neither was and we were told we could not enter. This refusal is a misdemeanor crime in Alabama. Please train your employees concerning service animals. They appear to be totally ignorant concerning this access right.
